How we compare software

What this site is

A record of what software vendors publish about their own products — plan prices, seat limits, feature availability, contract terms — arranged so that two or more products can be read side by side.

What this site is not

We do not test these products. Nothing here is a hands-on review, and you will not find sentences on this site claiming that we used a tool on a real job. Where a competing site says "we tried it for two weeks", we say "the vendor's pricing page said this on this date". That is a narrower claim, and it is one we can actually stand behind.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure is taken from one of the following, in this order of preference:

1. The vendor's public pricing page
2. The vendor's product documentation or help centre
3. The vendor's published changelog or release notes
4. Official filings and press releases

Each comparison lists its sources at the bottom of the page with a direct link. If a number cannot be traced to one of those, it does not go on the page.

The date stamp

Software pricing changes quietly. A comparison written two years ago and never touched since is worse than useless — it is confidently wrong. Every page here carries a Verified date showing when its figures were last checked against the sources listed.

Pages are re-checked on a schedule rather than when someone happens to notice. When a figure changes, the page is updated and the date is moved forward. When nothing has changed, the date still moves forward, so you can tell the difference between "current" and "abandoned".

How we pick which products to include

Products are included when they publish enough information to be compared fairly. A vendor that hides all pricing behind a sales call cannot be placed in a price table; where that is the case we say so explicitly rather than guessing or leaving a blank.

How this site makes money

Through advertising and, where a vendor runs a referral programme, affiliate links. Affiliate arrangements do not change which products appear, the order they appear in, or what the tables say — those are determined by the published figures. See our advertiser disclosure for detail.

Corrections

If a figure on this site is wrong or out of date, tell us and it will be fixed. Corrections to pricing and feature data are treated as urgent, because a stale number is the one thing this site exists to prevent. Contact details are on the contact page.
