LMN: Fees You Only Find After Signing Up

LMN publishes two prices, $297/mo and $648/mo, but neither is what you pay. Both carry an asterisk reading “After a one-time onboarding fee”, and the onboarding line itself reads “$75 one-time fee + $30/mo”. So Starter’s real first-year cost is $3,999, not $3,564. A third cost, extra licences, is described only as “available for a fee” with no rate published.

What does LMN actually charge?

Three published numbers, one unpublished one. Here is everything the pricing page states in figures.

Note the shape of that last row. It appears identically on all three tiers. It is the single largest unpriced variable in LMN’s model, because it is the one that scales with your crew.

Assumptions behind every number below

State these plainly, because they change the answer.

1. Prices are as displayed on the LMN pricing page on 2026-09-07, in USD, billed monthly. No annual discount is published, so no annual discount is applied.
2. LMN Launch is treated as taken. The asterisk on both plan prices reads “After a one-time onboarding fee”, which reads as onboarding being required rather than optional. If your sales rep waives it, subtract $75 and $30/mo.
3. The $30/mo Launch charge is treated as continuing indefinitely, because the page gives no end date. If it stops after twelve months, year two drops by $360.
4. Additional licences are excluded from all totals. LMN publishes no rate. Any table row past the bundled seat count is therefore a floor, not a total.
5. No tax, no payment processing, no data migration. None of these is priced on the page.
6. Twelve-month year, no partial months.

What does LMN cost in year one?

Starter is $3,999 and Professional is $8,211. The working, line by line.

The onboarding line adds $435 to Starter, a 12.2% uplift on the plan price ($435 / $3,564). On Professional it adds the same $435, a 5.6% uplift ($435 / $7,776). The fee is flat, so it stings the smaller buyer harder. That asymmetry is the part a $297 headline hides.

Full range: what does each crew size cost per seat?

Most pages stop at one worked example. Here is the whole span of bundled seats, using LMN’s own licence counts and nothing invented. Effective monthly cost includes the $30/mo Launch charge. Per-seat is that figure divided by seats in use.

Read the per-seat column top to bottom. It falls from $327.00 to $54.50 across Starter, then jumps back up to $84.75 at seat 7 when you cross to Professional, then falls again to $37.67. That sawtooth is the actual shape of LMN’s pricing, and it is invisible from the two headline numbers.

The worst seat count to be is 7. You pay Professional’s $678/mo effective for one seat more than Starter covers. At 7 seats the per-seat is $96.86, higher than at any Starter count above 3.

Cross-condition: how does the answer move with headcount and onboarding?

Two axes. Down, crew size. Across, whether Launch applies and whether the $30/mo is permanent. Figures are annual.

The spread between the best and worst column is $435 in year one and $360 in every later year, regardless of crew size, because the Launch charge is flat. Over three years the difference between “Launch waived” and “Launch permanent” is $75 + (36 x $30) = $1,155. On a Starter subscription that is 10.8% of the three-year plan cost ($1,155 / $10,692). Worth one phone call before signing.

What extra-licence rate makes Professional cheaper than Starter?

Reverse the calculation. Professional costs $351/mo more than Starter ($648 - $297) and includes 12 more licences (18 - 6). So the break-even additional-licence rate is:

• $351 / 12 = $29.25 per licence per month

Apply it across the range. If LMN’s unpublished add-on rate is above $29.25/mo, upgrading to Professional beats buying seats on Starter as soon as you need seat 7. If it is below, staying on Starter and adding seats is cheaper up to some crossover point. Here is that crossover at several hypothetical rates. These rates are illustrative because LMN publishes none; the arithmetic is ours, the rate is not a vendor figure.

Working for the last column: Starter loses when $297 + (rate x extra seats) exceeds $648, so extra seats > $351 / rate, and total seats = 6 + that. At $20/seat, $351 / $20 = 17.55, so seat 24 (6 + 18) is where Professional wins. At $75/seat, $351 / $75 = 4.68, so seat 11.

The practical instruction: get the add-on rate from sales in writing, then find your row. That single number decides your tier, and LMN does not publish it.

Two things buyers get wrong about LMN’s price

Misconception 1: “$297/mo means $3,564 a year.” It does not, because of the asterisk. Both plan prices are footnoted “After a one-time onboarding fee”, and the onboarding line reads “$75 one-time fee + $30/mo”. Year one is $3,999. If you budgeted $3,564 you are $435 short, which is 1.5 months of the plan itself. The error compounds on a three-year view: $10,692 budgeted against $11,847 actual, a $1,155 gap.

Misconception 2: “Starter includes 5 users.” It includes 6, split into two different licence types: 1 office/crew lead licence and 5 crew member licences. Those are not interchangeable on the page. If you have two office staff, Starter’s single office/crew lead licence does not cover you, and you are into unpublished add-on territory or into Professional at $648/mo, even with a crew of three. Count your office seats and your crew seats separately before you pick a tier. Professional’s split is 3 office/crew lead and 15 crew member, so the office-side capacity triples while crew capacity triples too.

When are these figures wrong?

Concrete cases where the tables above will not match your invoice.

• You negotiate onboarding away. LMN’s rep may waive the $75, the $30/mo, or both. Subtract $435 from year one.
• The $30/mo Launch charge is time-limited. The page states no term. If it runs 12 months only, year two is $3,564 on Starter, not $3,924.
• You buy annually. No annual price is published. If one exists it will be lower than 12 x the monthly figure, and every year-one total here is then an overstatement.
• You need more than the bundled seats. Every row past 6 seats on Starter and 18 on Professional is a floor. The real number is higher by an amount LMN does not publish.
• You have more office staff than crew. The licence split (1 office / 5 crew on Starter) can force a tier upgrade at a headcount the seat total does not predict.
• You take payments through LMN. The page lists Invoicing & Payments and automated invoicing as features but no processing rate. On $500,000 of annual card volume, the difference between 2.6% and 3.5% is $4,500. That is larger than a whole year of Starter’s plan fee, and it is entirely absent from the published pricing.
• You are at or above 100 users. Enterprise has no published price. Nothing here applies.
• Prices changed after 2026-09-07. These were read from the page on that date and vendors move prices without notice.

What could we not verify?

Plenty, and it matters more than what we could.

We do not use LMN and make no claim about how it performs. This is a record of what the vendor publishes, and the gaps in it.

What should you check before signing?

Five questions, each aimed at a number that is missing above.

1. What is the additional-licence rate, per seat, per month, for office/crew lead and for crew member separately? Get both. The break-even against Professional is $29.25/seat/mo; you cannot judge the offer without the figure.
2. Does the $30/mo Launch charge ever stop? If yes, when. The three-year difference is $1,155.
3. What is the card and ACH processing rate, as a percentage plus fixed fee? Multiply it by your annual invoiced volume before you compare tiers. At $1M of card volume, one percentage point is $10,000 a year, more than either plan.
4. Is there an annual price, and what is it? Only monthly billing is published.
5. Which of the “Available as add-on” items do you actually need, and what does each cost? Three appear on the page with no price.

Get all five in writing, add them to the $3,999 or $8,211 baseline, and you have a real number. Until then, the published price is a floor.
