ServiceM8 Plan Tiers for Cleaning Businesses
Work out which ServiceM8 tier fits your cleaning job volume, what 1,500+ jobs really costs, and where the 20c overage fee beats upgrading.
ServiceM8 charges by monthly new jobs, not by cleaner. Five tiers: Free $0 (30 jobs, 1 user), Starter $29 (50 jobs), Growing $79 (150), Premium $149 (500), Premium Plus $349 (1500+). Every paid tier lists unlimited users. For a cleaning business, the deciding number is how many new job records you create each month, and recurring cleans are what push that count.
Key points
- ServiceM8’s US pricing page lists five tiers from $0/mo to $349/mo, with monthly new-job credits of 30, 50, 150, 500 and 1500+.
- Only the Free plan caps users, at 1. Starter, Growing, Premium and Premium Plus all state unlimited users, so a 2-cleaner and a 20-cleaner firm pay the same on the same tier.
- Premium Plus is the only tier with a published per-job overage, at 20c per job. The other four tiers show a dash, meaning you upgrade rather than pay overage.
- Auto Time Tracking is a $19/mo add-on on every tier including Free, and Bundles is a $19/mo add-on available only on Growing and up.
- Cost per job at plan capacity ranges from 58c (Starter, 50 jobs) down to 23c (Premium Plus, 1,500 jobs), so the effective rate falls as you scale.

What does each ServiceM8 plan actually cost per job?
Divide the monthly price by the included job credits. This is the number that decides your tier, because ServiceM8 gates on jobs and not on seats.

Assumptions stated up front: prices taken from the ServiceM8 US pricing page as published on 2026-09-08, in USD, base subscription only, no add-ons, and “jobs” means new job records created in the month. Premium Plus is calculated at 1,500 jobs, the floor of its “1500+” band.
| Plan | Monthly price | Included jobs | Cost per job at capacity | Users | Support |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 30 | $0.00 | 1 | Self Serve |
| Starter | $29 | 50 | $0.58 | Unlimited | 24/7 |
| Growing | $79 | 150 | $0.527 | Unlimited | 24/7 |
| Premium | $149 | 500 | $0.298 | Unlimited | 24/7 |
| Premium Plus | $349 | 1,500 | $0.233 | Unlimited | 24/7 |
Working, line by line:
- Starter: $29 ÷ 50 = $0.58 per job
- Growing: $79 ÷ 150 = $0.5267 per job
- Premium: $149 ÷ 500 = $0.298 per job
- Premium Plus: $349 ÷ 1,500 = $0.2327 per job
The jump from Starter to Growing buys 100 extra jobs for $50, which is 50c per marginal job, barely cheaper than Starter’s average. The jump from Growing to Premium buys 350 extra jobs for $70, which is 20c per marginal job. That is where the pricing curve actually bends.
Marginal cost of each upgrade step:
| Upgrade step | Extra cost | Extra jobs | Cost per extra job |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free → Starter | $29 | 20 | $1.45 |
| Starter → Growing | $50 | 100 | $0.50 |
| Growing → Premium | $70 | 350 | $0.20 |
| Premium → Premium Plus | $200 | 1,000 | $0.20 |
Working: Free → Starter is $29 − $0 = $29 for 50 − 30 = 20 jobs, so $29 ÷ 20 = $1.45. Starter → Growing is $79 − $29 = $50 for 150 − 50 = 100 jobs, so $0.50. Growing → Premium is $149 − $79 = $70 for 500 − 150 = 350 jobs, so $0.20. Premium → Premium Plus is $349 − $149 = $200 for 1,500 − 500 = 1,000 jobs, so $0.20.
Note the Free → Starter step is the worst value per job by a wide margin, at $1.45. You do not buy Starter for the 20 extra jobs. You buy it for unlimited users, 24/7 support, free SMS and unlimited AI uses. If those four things do not matter to you and you are under 30 jobs a month, Free is genuinely the right answer.
What does ServiceM8 cost at 1, 3, 5 and 8 cleaners?
Nothing changes. That is the answer, and it is the single most useful fact on the page for a cleaning firm.

ServiceM8’s pricing page states directly that it does not charge per user, and that the Free plan is the only tier limiting user count. So the cost table across headcount looks like this, holding job volume at 150 per month (Growing tier):
| Cleaners | ServiceM8 monthly | Cost per cleaner | Cost per job |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $79 | $79.00 | $0.527 |
| 2 | $79 | $39.50 | $0.527 |
| 3 | $79 | $26.33 | $0.527 |
| 5 | $79 | $15.80 | $0.527 |
| 8 | $79 | $9.88 | $0.527 |
| 12 | $79 | $6.58 | $0.527 |
| 20 | $79 | $3.95 | $0.527 |
Working: $79 ÷ 3 = $26.33. $79 ÷ 5 = $15.80. $79 ÷ 8 = $9.88. $79 ÷ 12 = $6.58. $79 ÷ 20 = $3.95.
Cost per job is flat because job volume is the fixed input here, not headcount.
The 1-cleaner row is where the Free plan matters most. A solo cleaner doing under 30 jobs a month pays $0 and gets scheduling, photo branding, caller ID, job cards, quotes, invoices, mobile payments and accounting integrations, per the pricing page’s statement that every plan includes all the essentials. The constraint is 1 user, 30 jobs and 10 AI uses per day, and SMS at 10c each rather than free.
How do jobs and headcount interact?
Vary both axes. This is the table to find your own row in. Monthly base price, by job volume and by team size:
| Monthly new jobs | Required tier | 1 cleaner | 3 cleaners | 5 cleaners | 8 cleaners |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | Free | $0 | n/a (1-user cap) | n/a | n/a |
| 30 | Free | $0 | n/a | n/a | n/a |
| 40 | Starter | $29 | $29 | $29 | $29 |
| 50 | Starter | $29 | $29 | $29 | $29 |
| 75 | Growing | $79 | $79 | $79 | $79 |
| 150 | Growing | $79 | $79 | $79 | $79 |
| 250 | Premium | $149 | $149 | $149 | $149 |
| 500 | Premium | $149 | $149 | $149 | $149 |
| 800 | Premium Plus | $349 | $349 | $349 | $349 |
| 1,500 | Premium Plus | $349 | $349 | $349 | $349 |
| 2,000 | Premium Plus + overage | $449 | $449 | $449 | $449 |
| 3,000 | Premium Plus + overage | $649 | $649 | $649 | $649 |
The “n/a” rows are the real content in this table. Free is 1 user only, so a 3-cleaner firm doing 20 jobs a month cannot use it. That firm pays $29 for Starter despite being well under Free’s job ceiling. Headcount does not scale your bill, but it does set your floor.
Overage working, 2,000 jobs: 2,000 − 1,500 = 500 jobs over. At the published 20c per job, 500 × $0.20 = $100. So $349 + $100 = $449.
Overage working, 3,000 jobs: 3,000 − 1,500 = 1,500 over. 1,500 × $0.20 = $300. So $349 + $300 = $649.
Effective cost per job at 3,000 jobs: $649 ÷ 3,000 = $0.216. Marginally better than Premium Plus at exactly 1,500 ($0.233), because the overage rate of 20c is below the base tier’s average rate of 23.3c.
At what job volume should you upgrade?
Reverse the calculation. Instead of asking what a tier costs, ask how many jobs you need before the next tier is forced.
Premium is $149 and covers 500 jobs. Premium Plus is $349 and covers 1,500+. Since the pricing table shows no published per-job overage for Premium (the Additional Jobs row is a dash for Free, Starter, Growing and Premium), the 501st job on Premium is an upgrade trigger, not a 20c charge. So the break-even question is not financial, it is structural: at 501 jobs you move to $349, a 134% increase, for one job over.
| Your monthly jobs | Cheapest legal tier | Monthly cost | Headroom left | Jobs until forced upgrade |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 28 | Free (solo only) | $0 | 2 | 2 |
| 31 | Starter | $29 | 19 | 19 |
| 49 | Starter | $29 | 1 | 1 |
| 51 | Growing | $79 | 99 | 99 |
| 149 | Growing | $79 | 1 | 1 |
| 151 | Premium | $149 | 349 | 349 |
| 499 | Premium | $149 | 1 | 1 |
| 501 | Premium Plus | $349 | 999 | 999 |
| 1,499 | Premium Plus | $349 | 1 | 1 |
| 1,501 | Premium Plus + $0.20 | $349.20 | unlimited (metered) | none |
Read the “headroom left” column before you pick. Landing at 149 jobs on Growing means one extra job next month costs you $70. Landing at 51 jobs on Growing means you have 99 jobs of runway. A cleaning business growing 8% a month at 140 jobs hits 151 within one month; at 60 jobs it has roughly ten months of runway on the same tier.
Growth-runway working at 8% monthly growth from 140 jobs: 140 × 1.08 = 151.2, so month 1 breaches Growing’s 150 cap. From 60 jobs: 60 × 1.08^n > 150 requires 1.08^n > 2.5, so n > ln(2.5) ÷ ln(1.08) = 0.9163 ÷ 0.07696 = 11.9 months.
What do the add-ons cost on top?
Two add-ons are priced on the page. Auto Time Tracking is listed at $19/mo and is shown against every tier including Free. Bundles is listed at $19/mo and is marked “Available in Growing & Up”.
| Base plan | Base | + Auto Time Tracking | + Bundles | Both add-ons |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $19 | not available | not available |
| Starter | $29 | $48 | not available | not available |
| Growing | $79 | $98 | $98 | $117 |
| Premium | $149 | $168 | $168 | $187 |
| Premium Plus | $349 | $368 | $368 | $387 |
Working: $29 + $19 = $48. $79 + $19 + $19 = $117. $149 + $19 + $19 = $187. $349 + $19 + $19 = $387.
Auto Time Tracking is the add-on most relevant to cleaning. It clocks staff on and off shifts, checks them in and out of jobs, and includes travel time from the previous location using GPS and job data. For a firm running 5 cleaners across scattered residential sites, that $19/mo is a flat cost regardless of how many cleaners it tracks, because ServiceM8 does not charge per user.
Effective per-cleaner cost of Auto Time Tracking on a 5-person team: $19 ÷ 5 = $3.80 per cleaner per month. On a 12-person team: $19 ÷ 12 = $1.58.
The pricing page also lists ServiceM8 Phone with Caller ID and a stated free trial, but the page carries two different trial lengths for it in different sections, “1-month Free Trial” in one block and “3-month Free Trial” in another, and it does not publish a monthly price for the Phone product itself. We are not putting a Phone price in any table.
Two things people get wrong about ServiceM8 pricing
Misconception 1: “The higher tiers unlock more features.” Mostly no. Reading the plan cards, Free, Starter, Growing, Premium and Premium Plus all list the same feature set: All Essential Features, AI Smart Helpers, Recurring Jobs, Deposits, Partial/Progress Invoices, Supplier Invoice Importing, Purchased Forms, Asset Management, Forms & Certificates, Proposals, Bundles, ServiceM8 Inbox, Job Costing, Markup Billing, Knowledge. What differs across the paid tiers is the job count and, on Free, the 1-user cap, the 10-per-day AI limit and the 10c SMS charge. The two genuine feature gates we can point to are custom Form building, which the FAQ places at Growing or higher, and the Bundles add-on, marked “Available in Growing & Up”. If you are on Starter and considering Premium purely for features, you are paying $120/mo more for 450 extra job credits.
Misconception 2: “Unlimited users means a big cleaning team costs more.” It does not. Take a 10-cleaner residential firm doing 400 jobs a month. It pays $149 on Premium, which is $14.90 per cleaner. A 2-cleaner firm doing the same 400 jobs also pays $149, which is $74.50 per cleaner. The larger team gets five times better value from an identical bill. Under ServiceM8’s model, the expensive customer is a small team with high job churn, and the cheap customer is a large team with a small number of long recurring contracts. That is the inverse of most per-seat field-service pricing.
Recurring cleans are where this bites. If ServiceM8 counts each occurrence of a recurring clean as a new job, a firm with 40 weekly commercial contracts creates roughly 40 × 4.33 = 173 jobs a month and needs Premium at $149, despite having only 40 customers. If recurrences do not each consume a credit, the same firm could sit on Starter at $29. The pricing page does not state which applies. That single unknown swings the annual bill by ($149 − $29) × 12 = $1,440.
When is this estimate wrong?
Concrete cases where the tables above will not match your invoice:
- Recurring job counting. As above. The page lists Recurring Jobs as a feature on every plan but does not say whether each recurrence consumes a job credit. For a cleaning business this is the largest single uncertainty in the whole model.
- SMS caps. The comparison table says Text Messaging is Free on all four paid tiers, but the FAQ says there is “a standard SMS ‘overage’ fee per SMS sent over your plan’s monthly SMS cap” and refers you back to the comparison table for the figure. The comparison table we have does not show a cap number or an overage rate for paid plans. Only the Free plan’s 10c per SMS is stated. If you send appointment reminders to every clean, budget for an unquantified SMS line.
- Premium overage. We show 501 jobs on Premium as forcing a $349 upgrade because only Premium Plus lists a per-job rate. If ServiceM8 in practice applies 20c to other tiers, then 600 jobs on Premium would be $149 + (100 × $0.20) = $169 rather than $349. That is a $180/mo difference and it rests on a dash in a table.
- Learning Roadmap credits. The page states that progressing through the Learning Roadmap unlocks higher Job and SMS limits, plan upgrades and higher-tier Add-Ons. No values are published. Your effective job ceiling may be above the printed number.
- Mid-month tier changes. The page states there are no lock-ins and that credit from a previous plan applies pro-rata to a new plan. Our tables assume whole months.
- Payment processing. The page mentions mobile payments as an essential feature but publishes no processing rate. Card fees are not in any table here.
- Currency and region. Prices are stated as USD on the US page. Other regional pages may differ.
What could not be verified
- No monthly price for ServiceM8 Phone. Caller ID and unlimited users are listed under it, and a free trial is offered, but the trial length appears as both 1 month and 3 months in different parts of the same page, and no recurring price is given. Not tabled.
- No SMS cap figure or overage rate for paid plans, despite the FAQ pointing to a table for it.
- No per-job overage rate for Free, Starter, Growing or Premium. Dashes only.
- No published values for the Learning Roadmap’s job and SMS limit increases.
- No annual or prepaid discount is published. All figures here are monthly.
- No payment processing rate.
- No competitor prices are compared on this page, because no second vendor pricing source was verified today. Any ServiceM8-versus-alternative cost claim would be a guess, so there is none here.
This site does not use ServiceM8. Everything above is arithmetic performed on figures the vendor publishes.
What to check before buying
- Ask ServiceM8 directly whether each occurrence of a recurring clean consumes a job credit. Get it in writing. On a 40-contract weekly book this is the difference between $29 and $149 a month.
- Ask for the SMS cap on your intended tier and the per-SMS overage rate. Multiply by your reminder volume. At 400 cleans a month with two messages each, that is 800 SMS, and an unstated rate on 800 messages is not a rounding error.
- Ask whether the 20c per-job overage applies below Premium Plus. If it does, staying on Premium at 600 jobs saves $180/mo versus upgrading.
- Check whether you need custom Forms. Buying pre-made Forms from the 250+ Form Store works on every plan including Free. Building your own requires Growing at $79/mo.
- Run the 14-day free trial before entering payment details. ServiceM8 states full feature access during the trial and that payment details are only needed if you subscribe.
- Count your actual new jobs for one full month before choosing, not your customer count. Pick the tier with headroom, not the one you exactly fill. Landing at 149 on Growing costs $70 the moment you win one more client.

Common questions
- How much does ServiceM8 cost per month?
- ServiceM8 publishes five tiers on its US pricing page: Free at $0/mo, Starter at $29/mo, Growing at $79/mo, Premium at $149/mo and Premium Plus at $349/mo. Prices are stated in USD. The tiers are separated by monthly new-job credits, not by user seats: 30, 50, 150, 500 and 1500+ jobs respectively. Only the Free plan caps users, at 1. Every paid plan lists unlimited users.
- Does ServiceM8 charge per user?
- No. ServiceM8's pricing page states plainly that it does not charge per user, and that the Free plan is the only tier limiting user count, at 1 user. Starter, Growing, Premium and Premium Plus all list unlimited users. For a cleaning firm with 8 cleaners, the monthly cost is identical to a firm with 1 cleaner on the same tier. What moves your bill is monthly new-job count, not headcount.
- What happens if I go over my ServiceM8 job limit?
- ServiceM8 states that if your monthly plan resets first, job credits reset; otherwise you are prompted to upgrade your plan. Only Premium Plus lists a published additional-job rate, at 20c per job. Free, Starter, Growing and Premium show a dash in the Additional Jobs row, meaning no per-job overage is published for those tiers. So on Premium, exceeding 500 jobs means upgrading rather than paying an overage.
- Which ServiceM8 plan do I need to build my own forms?
- The Growing plan at $79/mo or higher. ServiceM8 states that customers on all plans, including Free, can buy and use any of the 250+ pre-made Forms in the Form Store. Building your own Forms, or hiring a ServiceM8 Partner to create custom Forms, requires Growing or above. For a cleaning business wanting a bespoke post-clean sign-off sheet, that is the gate, and it costs $50/mo more than Starter.
- Is ServiceM8 SMS free on paid plans?
- The comparison table lists Text Messaging as 10c per SMS on the Free plan, and Free on Starter, Growing, Premium and Premium Plus. ServiceM8 separately notes a standard SMS overage fee per SMS sent over a plan's monthly SMS cap, but the specific cap figures and overage rate are not published on the pricing page we checked. Treat SMS as free within an unstated cap on paid tiers.
