ServiceM8 Forms and Automation Costs Explained
Work out your monthly ServiceM8 bill by jobs, users and forms, from $0 to $349, with custom forms needing the $79 plan.
Price correction (2026-10-20): Updated the ServiceM8 feature-price treatment and SMS comparison assumptions using the US pricing table and official pricing explanation. This note applies only to those price details; the article’s other checks and verification date are unchanged.
ServiceM8 paid plans price by plan rather than user count. Free includes one user and 30 new jobs, and Premium Plus lists 1,500+ jobs at $349/month. Pre-made Form Store forms can be purchased on every plan; custom form building starts at Growing’s $79 base. Auto Time Tracking is included on all plans.
Key points
- Five plans are listed on the ServiceM8 US pricing page: $0, $29, $79, $149 and $349 a month, covering 30, 50, 150, 500 and 1,500+ new jobs.
- Only the Free plan limits users (to 1); every paid plan has unlimited users, so 8 staff cost the same as 2.
- Over 250 pre-made forms can be bought on any plan, but building custom forms moves the minimum from $0 or $29 to $79 a month.
- Auto Time Tracking is included in all plans. Bundles is included from Growing upward. ServiceM8 Phone is a separate optional service advertised from $19/month; confirm the applicable quote and usage terms.
- The Form Store prices, the paid-plan SMS cap and the ServiceM8 Phone price are not on the pricing page.

What are the assumptions behind these numbers?
Every figure comes from one source, the ServiceM8 US pricing page, read on 2026-10-05. Prices are in USD, billed monthly. Annual figures are simply twelve times the monthly price, because the vendor says there are no lock-ins.

Assumptions that change the answer:
- “Jobs” means new jobs created per month, which is the unit the plans are capped on.
- Premium Plus is treated as including 1,500 jobs, with 20 cents charged per job above that. The page shows “1500+” and lists the 20 cent rate only in that column.
- Auto Time Tracking is included in the base price. Bundles is included on Growing or higher; Phone is a separate optional starting-price service.
- Tax, payment processing and the cost of individual Form Store forms are excluded. None is published on the page.
- The example business is a general contractor with a crew of 1, 3, 5 or 8 people on the same account.
What does each ServiceM8 plan cost for the year?
Multiply each monthly price by 12. This is the base before any add-on.

| Plan | Monthly | Working | Annual | Jobs per month | Users | Support |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 0 × 12 | $0 | 30 | 1 | Self serve |
| Starter | $29 | 29 × 12 | $348 | 50 | Unlimited | 24/7 |
| Growing | $79 | 79 × 12 | $948 | 150 | Unlimited | 24/7 |
| Premium | $149 | 149 × 12 | $1,788 | 500 | Unlimited | 24/7 |
| Premium Plus | $349 | 349 × 12 | $4,188 | 1,500+ | Unlimited | 24/7 |
Cost per job at full capacity falls as you climb: Starter is $29 ÷ 50 = $0.58, Growing is $79 ÷ 150 = $0.53, Premium is $149 ÷ 500 = $0.30, and Premium Plus is $349 ÷ 1,500 = $0.23. A plan that is half full costs double that per job.
Which plan do I need at my job volume?
Find your monthly job count in the first column. The last column adds the rule that custom forms need Growing or higher, so it never drops below $79.
| New jobs per month | Cheapest plan | Monthly | Annual | Monthly if you need custom forms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Free (1 user only) | $0 | $0 | $79 |
| 30 | Free (1 user only) | $0 | $0 | $79 |
| 40 | Starter | $29 | $348 | $79 |
| 50 | Starter | $29 | $348 | $79 |
| 75 | Growing | $79 | $948 | $79 |
| 150 | Growing | $79 | $948 | $79 |
| 200 | Premium | $149 | $1,788 | $149 |
| 300 | Premium | $149 | $1,788 | $149 |
| 500 | Premium | $149 | $1,788 | $149 |
| 700 | Premium Plus | $349 | $4,188 | $349 |
| 1,000 | Premium Plus | $349 | $4,188 | $349 |
| 1,500 | Premium Plus | $349 | $4,188 | $349 |
| 1,800 | Premium Plus + overage | $409 | $4,908 | $409 |
| 2,000 | Premium Plus + overage | $449 | $5,388 | $449 |
Working for the last two rows: 1,800 − 1,500 = 300 extra jobs × $0.20 = $60, so $349 + $60 = $409. For 2,000: 500 × $0.20 = $100, so $349 + $100 = $449. These rows rest on the 1,500 inclusion assumption above.
The step that costs most is the jump from 150 to 151 jobs: $79 becomes $149, a $70 monthly rise ($840 a year) for one extra job. The same pattern applies at 500 to 501 ($149 to $349, a $200 rise).
What does a single job cost at each volume?
Divide the monthly price of the cheapest plan by the jobs you actually create. A plan that is only partly used costs more per job than the full-capacity figures above.
| Jobs per month | Plan | Working | Cost per job |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | Free | $0 ÷ 10 | $0.00 |
| 40 | Starter | $29 ÷ 40 | $0.73 |
| 75 | Growing | $79 ÷ 75 | $1.05 |
| 100 | Growing | $79 ÷ 100 | $0.79 |
| 200 | Premium | $149 ÷ 200 | $0.75 |
| 300 | Premium | $149 ÷ 300 | $0.50 |
| 700 | Premium Plus | $349 ÷ 700 | $0.50 |
| 1,000 | Premium Plus | $349 ÷ 1,000 | $0.35 |
| 1,500 | Premium Plus | $349 ÷ 1,500 | $0.23 |
The per-job figure is not smooth. At 75 jobs you pay $1.05 each, more than the $0.73 at 40 jobs, because the Growing price starts at job 51. It only drops below the Starter figure once you reach about 110 jobs, where $79 ÷ 110 comes to $0.72.
What does each step up cost?
Each row shows the extra money when volume pushes you from one plan to the next.
| Move | Extra per month | Working | Extra per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free to Starter | $29 | 29 − 0 | $348 |
| Starter to Growing | $50 | 79 − 29 | $600 |
| Growing to Premium | $70 | 149 − 79 | $840 |
| Premium to Premium Plus | $200 | 349 − 149 | $2,400 |
| Free to Premium Plus | $349 | 349 − 0 | $4,188 |
How do custom forms and included time tracking change the bill?
Auto Time Tracking is included on all plans. Custom form building requires Growing or higher; buying pre-made Form Store forms is available on every plan and those purchases are outside the base fees below.
| Scenario | Base without custom form building | Base with custom form building and included tracking |
|---|---|---|
| 25 jobs, 1 user | Free, $0 | Growing, $79 |
| 25 jobs, 3 users | Starter, $29 | Growing, $79 |
| 45 jobs, 5 users | Starter, $29 | Growing, $79 |
| 120 jobs, 5 users | Growing, $79 | Growing, $79 |
| 300 jobs, 8 users | Premium, $149 | Premium, $149 |
| 700 jobs, 8 users | Premium Plus, $349 | Premium Plus, $349 |
The $50 monthly base-fee step from Starter to Growing can therefore be a custom-form requirement even without more jobs. Time tracking itself adds no subscription charge.
What is the 12-month base budget with time tracking?
| Plan | Monthly base with Auto Time Tracking | Bundles | 12-month base budget |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Not included | $0 |
| Starter | $29 | Not included | $348 |
| Growing | $79 | Included | $948 |
| Premium | $149 | Included | $1,788 |
| Premium Plus | $349 | Included | $4,188 |
These are monthly base fees multiplied by 12, not an annual contract or an all-in bill. Usage, purchased forms, optional services and tax are excluded.
Does ServiceM8 charge more as the crew grows?
No. The vendor says it does not charge per user, and only the Free plan limits users. Cost at a fixed 40 jobs a month, which needs Starter once you pass 30:
| Users | Plan | Monthly | Cost per user |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Starter ($29) | $29 | $29.00 |
| 3 | Starter | $29 | $9.67 |
| 5 | Starter | $29 | $5.80 |
| 8 | Starter | $29 | $3.63 |
A solo operator at 25 jobs pays $0 on Free. Adding a second user forces a paid plan, so $29 a month ($348 a year) is the price of the second login at that volume.
How do users and job volume combine?
This table crosses the two axes. Free is only possible for one user at 30 jobs or fewer. Every other cell follows the job cap, because paid plans have unlimited users.
| Jobs per month | 1 user | 2 users | 5 users | 10 users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | $0 (Free) | $29 (Starter) | $29 (Starter) | $29 (Starter) |
| 45 | $29 (Starter) | $29 (Starter) | $29 (Starter) | $29 (Starter) |
| 120 | $79 (Growing) | $79 (Growing) | $79 (Growing) | $79 (Growing) |
| 300 | $149 (Premium) | $149 (Premium) | $149 (Premium) | $149 (Premium) |
| 700 | $349 (Premium Plus) | $349 (Premium Plus) | $349 (Premium Plus) | $349 (Premium Plus) |
Only the top-left cell differs from the rest of its row. That is the one place where headcount changes the bill: a second user at 25 jobs moves you from $0 to $29, an extra $348 a year.
What budget buys how many jobs?
This reverses the question: pick a monthly budget and read off the job capacity.
| Monthly budget | Best plan | Jobs covered | Users |
|---|---|---|---|
| $0 | Free | 30 | 1 |
| $29 | Starter | 50 | Unlimited |
| $79 | Growing | 150 | Unlimited |
| $79 | Growing with included time tracking | 150 | Unlimited |
| $149 | Premium | 500 | Unlimited |
| $349 | Premium Plus | 1,500 | Unlimited |
| $409 | Premium Plus + 300 extra | 1,800 | Unlimited |
| $449 | Premium Plus + 500 extra | 2,000 | Unlimited |
The break-even between Starter and Growing is 51 jobs. Between Growing and Premium it is 151 jobs. If your volume sits within a few jobs of a boundary, a busy month moves you up a tier, and the page says you are prompted to upgrade when you exceed the cap.
What do smaller overruns on Premium Plus cost?
The 20 cent rate is the only published overage. Here it is applied in steps of 100 jobs over the 1,500 mark.
| Jobs per month | Extra jobs | Working | Monthly | Annual if repeated every month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,500 | 0 | 349 + 0 | $349 | $4,188 |
| 1,600 | 100 | 349 + (100 × 0.20) | $369 | $4,428 |
| 1,700 | 200 | 349 + (200 × 0.20) | $389 | $4,668 |
| 1,800 | 300 | 349 + (300 × 0.20) | $409 | $4,908 |
| 1,900 | 400 | 349 + (400 × 0.20) | $429 | $5,148 |
| 2,000 | 500 | 349 + (500 × 0.20) | $449 | $5,388 |
Every extra 100 jobs in the assumed Premium Plus overage range adds $20/month, or $240 across 12 months at that volume. Included time tracking adds no further subscription charge; usage and optional services remain separate.
Which common beliefs about ServiceM8 pricing are wrong?
“You need a paid plan to use forms.” Wrong for pre-made forms. The vendor says customers on all plans, including Free, can use any form in the Form Store. The paid threshold applies only to building your own or commissioning custom forms, which needs Growing at $79.
“More staff means a bigger bill.” Wrong. Eight users on Starter cost $29, the same as three. Switching from a per-seat tool would mean a crew of eight pays $3.63 a head here. The job cap is the constraint that raises the price.
SMS inclusions have conditions. Free-plan SMS costs $0.10 each, so 290 texts cost $29. This equals Starter’s base monthly fee only. The US table marks paid-plan SMS as Free, but the official FAQ describes a monthly SMS cap and overage fees. The applicable paid allowance and overage rate were not confirmed, so this arithmetic does not establish a plan-cost break-even or unlimited free SMS.
“I’m locked in for a year.” The vendor says there are no lock-ins and that credit from your old plan goes toward the new one pro-rata.
What do texts cost on the Free plan?
Multiply Free-plan texts by $0.10. The last column compares this SMS bill only with Starter’s $29 base fee, not its final bill; paid SMS terms remain unconfirmed.
| Texts per month | Working | Free plan cost | Versus Starter base fee only ($29) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 50 × 0.10 | $5 | $24 below base fee |
| 100 | 100 × 0.10 | $10 | $19 below base fee |
| 200 | 200 × 0.10 | $20 | $9 below base fee |
| 290 | 290 × 0.10 | $29 | Equal |
| 400 | 400 × 0.10 | $40 | $11 above base fee |
Free-plan SMS costs $0.10 each, so 290 texts cost $29. This equals Starter’s base monthly fee only. The US table marks paid-plan SMS as Free, but the official FAQ describes a monthly SMS cap and overage fees. The applicable paid allowance and overage rate were not confirmed, so this arithmetic does not establish a plan-cost break-even or unlimited free SMS.
When is this estimate wrong?
- Form Store forms are priced separately. The page says forms can be bought, so their cost is on top of the plan. The price per form is not on the pricing page.
- Premium Plus inclusion. If the 1,500 job cap is not the real inclusion, the 1,800 and 2,000 rows change.
- Job counting. A multi-visit repair may be one job or several in your workflow. Count how you create jobs, not visits. A contractor who logs 60 jobs a month as 20 repair jobs with three visits each would sit at 20 jobs on the Free plan, not 60 on Growing, if each repair is a single job card.
- Optional services. Phone is advertised from $19/month; the final quote and usage terms can raise the budget. Auto Time Tracking is included.
- Phone trial terms. Confirm the applicable trial and quote before selecting it; Phone is excluded from the base totals.
- Learning Roadmap credits. The vendor says progressing through it can unlock higher job and SMS limits or plan upgrades. If you earn these, your bill falls below the tables.
- Seasonal swings. A roofer with 40 jobs in winter and 160 in summer is on Starter for part of the year and Premium in the busy months, so the annual figure is not simply twelve times one plan. One month at Premium instead of Growing costs $70 more.
- Page changes. Prices are read from one page on 2026-10-05 and may change.
What could not be verified?
No vendor was left unchecked, but several details are not on the page:
- Form Store prices per form.
- The final applicable Phone quote and usage terms beyond its advertised $19/month starting price.
- The monthly SMS cap on paid plans, and the overage rate.
- Any purchased Form Store forms or optional services required for the workflow; time tracking and eligible Bundles are included.
- Onboarding or setup fees, and sales tax. None is mentioned.
What should I check before buying?
- Count your new jobs in your busiest month, not your average. Find that row in the volume table.
- Decide whether pre-made forms from the Form Store are enough. If you need custom forms, price Growing at $79 from the start.
- Ask the vendor for the cost of the specific forms you need, since those are billed outside the plan.
- Confirm required feature gates: custom form building and Bundles start at Growing; time tracking is included on all plans. Quote optional Phone separately if needed.
- Use the 14-day trial on the pricing page. The vendor says all features are open during the trial and no card is needed until you subscribe.
- Re-read the SMS terms if you text customers heavily, especially on the Free plan at 10 cents each.
This site does not use these products. Everything above is a record of what the vendor publishes, plus arithmetic on those figures.

Common questions
- Can I use forms on the ServiceM8 Free plan?
- Yes, with a limit. The pricing page says customers on all plans, including Free, can buy and use any form from the Form Store, which lists over 250 pre-made forms. What the Free plan does not cover is building your own forms or having a partner build custom ones. That needs the Growing plan at $79 a month or higher. The Form Store prices are not on the pricing page, so budget for them separately. The gap between Free and Growing is $79 a month, or $948 a year, and the gap between Starter and Growing is $50 a month, or $600 a year.
- How much does ServiceM8 cost per user?
- Nothing per user is charged. The vendor states it does not charge per user, and only the Free plan caps users, at 1. Starter at $29 a month has unlimited users. Eight users on Starter cost $29 a month in total, which is $3.63 per user. The same eight users on Growing cost $79, or $9.88 each. The plan is chosen by jobs per month, not headcount. Ten users on Starter would be $29 ÷ 10 = $2.90 each.
- What does ServiceM8 cost for 100 jobs a month?
- 100 new jobs fit Growing's 150-job allowance at $79/month, or a $948 12-month base budget. Custom form building and Auto Time Tracking are included on that plan, so time tracking adds no surcharge. Required higher-tier features can still change the plan; usage, purchased forms, options and tax are excluded.
- What happens if I go over my ServiceM8 job limit?
- The page says that if your plan resets in that time, job credits reset. Otherwise you are prompted to upgrade. The only published per-job overage is on Premium Plus, at 20 cents per additional job. So 300 jobs over the 1,500 mark would add $60 to the $349 plan, for $409 that month. Lower plans show no overage rate. A smaller overrun of 100 jobs would add $20, for $369.
- Is ServiceM8 text messaging free?
- Free-plan SMS costs $0.10 each, so 290 texts cost $29. This equals Starter's base monthly fee only. The US table marks paid-plan SMS as Free, but the official FAQ describes a monthly SMS cap and overage fees. The applicable paid allowance and overage rate were not confirmed, so this arithmetic does not establish a plan-cost break-even or unlimited free SMS.
- Is there a contract or lock-in on ServiceM8?
- The vendor says there are no lock-ins with its pricing. Credit from a previous plan is applied to the new plan on a pro-rata basis when you change. It also lists a 14-day free trial with full access to features, and says payment details are only needed when you subscribe. Annual figures in this article are twelve times the monthly price, not a commitment. A business that moves from Starter to Growing mid-year would, on the arithmetic here, pay $29 a month before the move and $79 after it.
