HVAC Business Software: Every Published Price Compared — Field Service Management pricing comparison

Of the two major HVAC field service platforms checked on 2026-08-06, only one publishes real numbers. ServiceM8 lists five tiers from $0 to $349 a month with named features at each level. ServiceTitan does not publish a single dollar figure anywhere on its pricing page; every package routes to a “Request Pricing” form.

ServiceM8: full published pricing table

ServiceM8 lists five tiers on its US pricing page. All figures are monthly, in USD.

Growing$79/moUnlimited150UnlimitedFree
Premium$149/moUnlimited500UnlimitedFree
Premium Plus$349/moUnlimited1500+UnlimitedFree (20c/job over 1500)

Every paid tier includes unlimited data storage and 24/7 email and chat support; the Free tier gets self-serve support only. Growing is the first tier to add Asset Management and Electronic Forms; Premium is the first to add Knowledge (capturing business procedures for technicians). ServiceM8 Phone, a separate add-on, is listed “From $19/mo” on every plan, with unlimited users and no per-user fee, plus a 1-month free trial when paired with any standard subscription.

What it actually costs by crew size

ServiceM8’s headline structure is that user count is unlimited on every paid tier, so the plan price does not change as a crew grows, only the jobs-per-month cap does.

Free plan is hard-capped at 1 user. A second technician forces an upgrade regardless of job volume.

Starter ($29/mo) at 1, 3, 5, or 8 users all cost the same $29/mo, because Starter has no per-user fee. The constraint that actually bites is 50 jobs/month, roughly 1.6 jobs per calendar day across the whole crew. An 8-tech HVAC crew doing more than a couple of jobs per tech per week will exceed this fast.

Growing ($79/mo) raises the ceiling to 150 jobs/month, again flat regardless of whether it’s 1 or 8 users running those jobs.

Premium ($149/mo) raises it to 500 jobs/month.

Premium Plus ($349/mo) covers 1,500+ jobs/month, and is the only tier with a published overage rate: 20c per job past 1,500.

Annualised, the published monthly prices come to:

  • Starter: $29 × 12 = $348/year
  • Growing: $79 × 12 = $948/year
  • Premium: $149 × 12 = $1,788/year
  • Premium Plus: $349 × 12 = $4,188/year

For a mid-size HVAC outfit running roughly 400 jobs a month with 6 techs, Premium at $149/mo ($1,788/year) is the lowest published tier that covers that volume without hitting the cap, and the price is identical whether that crew has 6 techs or 8.

SMS and overage costs on realistic volume

The Free plan’s 10c-per-SMS charge is the only per-message cost ServiceM8 publishes; every paid tier includes SMS at no extra charge. A Free-tier user sending 200 text notifications a month (dispatch confirmations, on-the-way alerts, quote follow-ups) would pay 200 × $0.10 = $20/month in SMS fees on top of the $0 base, which by itself is close to a third of the Starter plan’s $29/mo price and gets none of Starter’s unlimited-user or 50-job allowance.

On Premium Plus, a company running 1,800 jobs in a busy month would pay the $349 base plus 300 jobs over the 1,500 included, at 20c each: 300 × $0.20 = $60, for a total of $409 that month.

What ServiceTitan publishes, and what it does not

ServiceTitan’s pricing page names three packages, Starter, Essentials, and The Works, and lists the same feature categories against each: Dispatching, Scheduling, Call Booking, Invoicing, Pricebook, Mobile Estimates, Payroll Management, Advanced Reporting, Commission Tracking, and Customizable Memberships. It states pricing is “per-technician” and scales with company size, but every tier’s call to action is “Request Pricing,” not a number. No monthly fee, per-user fee, onboarding fee, or add-on price for Titan Intelligence, TitanAdvisor, or any Pro product (Marketing Pro, Contact Center Pro, Pricebook Pro, Fleet Pro, Scheduling Pro, Dispatch Pro, Field Pro) is published on this page.

Because no verifiable number exists for ServiceTitan, it is excluded from the price table above. Any published figure attributed to ServiceTitan elsewhere should be treated as third-party estimate, not vendor-confirmed pricing, since it doesn’t appear on the vendor’s own page as checked today.

What could not be verified

  • ServiceTitan monthly or per-technician price: not published for Starter, Essentials, or The Works. The vendor page requires a sales conversation to get a number.
  • ServiceTitan Pro product add-on pricing (Marketing Pro, Contact Center Pro, Pricebook Pro, Fleet Pro, Scheduling Pro, Dispatch Pro, Field Pro): none listed.
  • ServiceM8 overage rate below Premium Plus: Starter, Growing, and Premium do not publish a per-job overage rate for exceeding their listed job caps; only Premium Plus states 20c/job.
  • ServiceM8 Phone exact price above the “from” figure: the page lists “From $19/mo” for every tier without a ceiling price or per-minute/per-call rate.

What to check before buying

Before committing to either platform for an HVAC business:

  1. Get ServiceTitan’s actual quote in writing before comparing it to ServiceM8’s published numbers. “Per-technician” pricing means the total depends heavily on crew size in a way ServiceM8’s unlimited-user model does not.
  2. Count actual monthly job volume, not crew size, when picking a ServiceM8 tier. Because users are unlimited on paid plans, the job cap (50/150/500/1,500+) is the number that determines cost, not headcount.
  3. Check whether SMS is included. It’s free on every ServiceM8 paid tier but costs 10c per message on the Free tier, which can erase the appeal of $0/mo quickly for a business that texts customers regularly.
  4. Ask what happens above the cap for any tier below Premium Plus, since ServiceM8 does not publish an overage rate for Starter, Growing, or Premium; confirm directly with the vendor before assuming continued service or price at scale.
  5. Confirm the ServiceM8 Phone add-on’s full pricing structure, since only a “from $19/mo” floor is published, and ask whether per-minute or per-seat costs apply for the plan’s specific configuration.

Common questions

Does any HVAC field service software have a free plan?
Yes. ServiceM8's Free tier is $0/mo, capped at 1 user, 30 jobs per month, and 10 AI uses per day. SMS costs 10c per text on this tier, where it is free on every paid plan. Once a business needs a second user or more than 30 jobs a month, it must move to the $29/mo Starter tier.
How much does ServiceM8 cost for a 5-person HVAC crew?
The same as it costs for a 1-person crew on the same tier, because every paid ServiceM8 plan (Starter through Premium Plus) includes unlimited users. A 5-tech shop on Starter still pays $29/mo; the number that changes with team size is jobs per month, not headcount.
Does ServiceTitan publish its HVAC pricing?
No. ServiceTitan lists three packages (Starter, Essentials, The Works) and describes its model as per-technician pricing, but every tier links to a 'Request Pricing' form rather than a published dollar figure. No public number could be verified for this article.
What happens if an HVAC company goes over ServiceM8's job limit?
Only Premium Plus states an overage rate: 20c per additional job once a business exceeds the 1,500 jobs/month included in that $349/mo tier. Lower tiers (Starter, Growing, Premium) do not list a published overage rate for exceeding their job caps.
Is there a phone system add-on and what does it cost?
ServiceM8 Phone is listed at 'From $19/mo' across every plan tier, with unlimited users and no per-user fee. New subscribers get a 1-month free trial of the phone add-on when paired with any standard ServiceM8 subscription.
